Libertarian Party of Russia
Russia, Moscow
I am a municipal deputy in Moscow and a libertarian candidate for Moscow City Duma. I have tried lots of tools to change the world around and the first thing I took up was journalism. I started writing professionally for publications when I was 14 years old. Today I work for an independent online media Slon.ru covering local and national political issues daily.

From 2009 I have been an active participant of a number of civil protest actions in Moscow getting arrested several times. As a student, I was detained by the police in 2011 at a Kremlin-organized event in my university when pro-government youth were instructed to smile and clap for the visiting President Dmitry Medvedev. Later I figured out that there is a chance to change the system from within. In March 2012 I became the first libertarian elected official in Russia ever.

I graduated from the Department of Journalism of the Moscow State University in 2013. My degree work was dedicated to citizen journalists so I am especially interested in the role of social media in political activities.

As a member of Libertarian Party of Russia I participate in the organization of the “Adam Smith Forum”, an annual event discussing theoretical and practical freedom-related issues. I also take part in organizing “Free People’s Forum” in different cities of Russia. The goal is to introduce regional students and activists to the ideas of freedom.

Lately I try to concentrate especially on international cooperation of young activists defending freedom. I have an English blog at YoungVoicesAdvocates.com in which I give actual comments on Russian news.
